SFA Football Announces Themes and Promotions for 2026 Home Schedule

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – SFA Athletics has announced the themes and promotions for the Lumberjacks' six home football games at Homer Bryce Stadium during the 2026 season.
The home schedule features several fan-favorite traditions, including Family Weekend, the Purple Out and Homecoming, along with special games honoring youth athletes, military members, educators and the Lumberjacks' senior class.
2026 SFA Football Home Themes
Saturday, Sept. 5 vs. East Texas A&M – East Texas Tough Night Kickoff: 7 p.m.
The Lumberjacks open their home schedule by celebrating the toughness and pride that define East Texas. Fans can receive a commemorative 100 Seasons pennant while supplies last. The evening will also recognize the SFA Marching Band's centennial and welcome band alumni back to Homer Bryce Stadium.
Saturday, Sept. 26 vs. Northeastern State – Family Weekend Kickoff: 5 p.m.
SFA students and their families are invited to experience a full day of Lumberjack traditions during Family Weekend. The game will also feature a special performance by participants in the SFA Cheer Kids Clinic.
Saturday, Oct. 3 vs. UIW – Purple Out Kickoff: 5 p.m.
Lumberjack fans are encouraged to fill Homer Bryce Stadium in SFA purple as the Jacks host UIW. Purple rally towels will be available while supplies last.
Saturday, Oct. 24 vs. Southeastern Louisiana – Homecoming Kickoff: 5 p.m.
Lumberjack alumni and fans will return to Nacogdoches for one of the biggest traditions of the year.
Saturday, Oct. 31 vs. Houston Christian – Youth Sports Day Kickoff: 2 p.m.
Young athletes from throughout East Texas are invited to enjoy a special day at Homer Bryce Stadium. Kids who arrive wearing a costume or youth sports jersey will receive free admission.
Thursday, Nov. 19 vs. Northwestern State – Senior Day, Military Appreciation and Teacher Appreciation Kickoff: 6 p.m. SFA will close its regular-season home schedule by recognizing the Lumberjacks' senior class. Military members who present their military ID and teachers who present their staff ID will receive free admission.

SEASON 100: ON THE HEELS OF HISTORY
The 2026 season will be the eighth for head coach Colby Carthel as the SFA football program hits the century mark in gridiron campaigns. The Lumberjacks are coming off a historic 2025 that saw SFA capture the program's fifth SLC title and first since 2010, while making the program's ninth FCS postseason appearance. That title came behind the program's first eight-win conference season and first perfect finish in league play in 99 seasons. The Jacks reached double-digit wins for the fifth time in program history, and the 11 victories last fall are the most since the '95 campaign.
