Maple Named 2026 TDEA Lifetime Achievement Award Finalist

HOUSTON, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University Dance Team Coach TJ Maple has been named a 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award Finalist by the Texas Dance Educators Association. Maple, who took over the SFA Dance Team in April of 2005, has led the program to 18 national championships.
He is presenting at the annual TDEA convention this week and is joined by fellow award finalist and SFA graduate LaKeisha McGowen. Joining Maple in Houston are current SFA dancers Ava Sipko, Jaylon Reed and Drew Doyle. Sipko and Reed are serving the convention as college assistants, while Doyle is a college intern.
