
Ladyjacks Dominate Lady Lions at Home

Ladyjacks record five in double figures for the eighth time this season.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program hosted a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana.
The Ladyjacks jumped out to a commanding 14-3 lead with 3:48 left in the first quarter. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter as SFA went into the first quarter break with a 16-9 lead.
Both teams traded blows in the second quarter until a SLU 5-0 run to cut the deficit to four with three minutes left. With 45 seconds left Aziyah Farrier drained two free throws before Kaylinn Kemp nailed a last second three to give the Ladyjacks a 35-25 lead heading into the locker room.
With 7:11 left in the third, SFA began an 8-0 spurt to extend their lead to 17. Both teams traded baskets until SLU recorded six straight free throws to bring the lead back down to ten, 50-40 with 2:23 left in the third. The Lady Lions hit a jumper with 15 second left, but the Ladyjacks went into the final ten minutes up by 13.
Both teams struggled to make a basket in the fourth as neither team make a field goal until a layup from Cha Gardner with 6:58 left in the game. A three from Key Roseby began a 16-0 run to put the Ladyjacks up by 27 with under a minute left in the game. Thirty seconds later Anika Hyland makes another three to secure an 83-55 win for SFA.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA recorded their third straight win over the Lady Lions and lead the series 42-6 with a 22-2 record in the Sawmill.
• The Ladyjacks had five double digit scorers for the eighth time this season.
• Key Roseby and Aziyah Farrier recorded their fourth double-doubles of the season.
• Roseby led the team with 19 points and added 10 boards.
• Farrier led the team with 13 rebounds and finished with 10 points.
• Kaylinn Kemp recorded her seventh straight game with double digit scoring with 14.
• Kemp also recorded her 17th game with at least five assists as she had six today.
• Anika Hyland scored 11 points with three three-pointers which tied Kemp and Harmanie Dominguez for the team lead in three-pointers.
• Lydia Cajuste scored 10 points and recorded four assists.
