Lewter Claims Southland XC Male Runner of the Week Honor

Canyon, Texas native earns first career honor following individual title in collegiate debut
FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference announced the league's first runners of the week on Tuesday afternoon following the first weekend of cross country action and earning his first career honor is Stephen F. Austin true freshman Lathan Lewter. A native of Canyon, Texas, Lewter rocked the field at the Lumberjack Invitational winning the men's individual title with a time of 15:07.8 at an average of 5:02.6 per mile.
On paper, the collegiate rookie was the lead 'Jack as a pack of SFA runners scissored around each other before grabbing the first through tenth place spots with just three seconds separating the bookends.
Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school's sports information director. Voting for one's own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
