'Jacks consensus top 25 team following Week 1 action
WACO, Texas - The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) announced its first weekly top 25 FCS rankings on Tuesday. Stephen F. Austin enters Week 2 of the season a consensus top 25 team nationally after securing a top 25 nod in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll on Monday. The 'Jacks hold the #23 ranking in the coaches poll setting up a top 25 battle this weekend in Abilene.
SFA received 60 total points and moved up a single spot from its preseason ranking of #24. The 'Jacks are joined in the poll by fellow Southland Conference members #9 UIW and T#25 Nicholls, while Southeastern Louisiana (10) and McNeese (2) are both receiving votes. Abilene Christian, SFA's Week 2 opponent, is ranked #17 in the AFCA poll, while the 'Jacks' Week 4 foe Cal Poly is receiving votes.
