Lumberjacks Among AFCA’s Top 25 Teams in Preseason Coaches Poll

‘Jacks add another national preseason ranking ahead of ’25 campaign
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) released the organization's FCS Coaches Preseason Poll presented by Hudl on Monday morning, August 11. Stephen F. Austin appeared at No. 24 in the national ranking and is one of four Southland Conference teams to receive the preseason recognition from the coaches' outlet joining league favorite and No. 4 Incarnate Word, RV Southeastern Louisiana and RV Lamar.
SFA totaled 82 points in the poll to land in front of Stony Brook and sit behind both Richmond and Tennessee Tech as the two programs tied for the No. 22 spot.
The 2025 slate features three contests, two league foes and a non-conference matchup, against teams that received recognition in the AFCA's first rankings of the season. The 'Jacks will take on preseason No. 4 UIW (Oct. 4), No. 16 Abilene Christian (Sept. 6) and RV Lamar (Nov. 15).
Monday's ranking is added to two other preseason nods from national outlets as the 'Jacks were ranked No. 23 nationally in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 released earlier this month in addition to tying Monmouth for the No. 21 spot in the late May release of the Hero Sports FCS Preseason Media Poll.
