Lumberjack grad previously held role as department’s Director of Game & Event Operations
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin Senior Associate AD for External Affairs Jessica Dorsey has announced the hiring of Bryson Harris to the role of Director of Marketing & Revenue Generation. The official announcement was made on Wednesday, July 16. Harris, who previously held the role of Director of Game & Event Operations for the department, makes an immediate transition to the external office.
"I'm excited to bring Bryson Harris on board as our new Director of Marketing & Revenue Generation," noted Dorsey. "He already has a strong track record here—steering game-day ops, coordinating our facilities efforts, and boosting engagement across the board. He knows our culture, how we connect with fans, and what drives our revenue. I'm confident he'll bring that same energy and insight to elevate our marketing strategy and unlock new growth."
In his previous role, Harris oversaw all things related to SFA gameday operations & event management (roughly 400+ home events over the past three seasons), game personnel staffing, and facility preparation, maintenance and scheduling among other duties. Included in the many projects that Harris has been a part of since joining the department as an intern in 2021 is managing the holistic execution from quoting, procurement, design, installation and reveal of the brand-new Debbie Humphreys Court at Shelton Gym.
"I am very grateful for this new opportunity with SFA Athletics and have so many people to thank that have inspired me during my life and helped lead me to this role," remarked Harris. "My time in Nacogdoches has been very special, and I am thrilled to continue to cultivate strong relationships with the community and build on the experience that SFA offers students, faculty, staff, and fans from all over."
Prior to his promotion to lead the game & event operations department in June of 2024, Harris was a graduate assistant in the office serving as the manager of student internships, leading a group of nearly two dozen paid student workers, initiating and maintaining positive working relationships with game officials and consistently participating in athletics administration meetings to ensure the smooth execution of all things related to Lumberjack gamedays.
Harris is a two-time graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University earning a BBA in Sport Business, Summa Cum Laude in May of 2023 and an MBA with a concentration in Sport Business in December of 2024.
His work in marketing the department to a growing number of fans and alumni began as a student. Harris served as the department's Student Director of Strategic Initiatives for one year before earning a graduate assistant role. In that position, he staffed and managed all student workers in the game operations/marketing and fan engagement, drafted bids to host WAC championship-level competitions in Nacogdoches and assisted on-campus groups including the department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee with developing community engagement initiatives and events in an effort to better promote Lumberjack student-athletes.
Harris' extracurricular involvement during his undergraduate days were extensive. He participated in the Rusche College of Business Mentorship program, was an active member of Sigma Chi and served the chapter as historian, public relations chair and vice president and also held a seat on SFA's Interfraternity Council serving as VP of Public Relations and Community Service. Additionally, Harris competed in the 2023 NCSSC Ticket Sales Championship in February of 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia, earning introductory offers from multiple pro sports franchises.
Harris added, "With over 100,000 living alumni, we have a unique opportunity to preserve and expand on personal and professional growth that occurred during their college days. As we continue into year two back in the Southland Conference, we need your energy and support more than ever. Axe 'Em, Jacks!"
