Harris, Demmings Named to Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Teams

SFA duo among ten Southland Conference representatives, ‘Jacks one of just three SLC teams with honorees
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin football's Kylon Harris and Charles Demmings were honored on Tuesday morning as the Lumberjacks' duo received 2025 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America recognition the organization announced on July 15. Harris, a senior wide receiver from Reserve, Louisiana, was tabbed to the second team, while Demmings, a senior defensive back out of Mesquite, Texas, was selected to the third team. The pair was among ten Southland Conference student-athletes to receive the preseason nod, while SFA joined UIW and Nicholls as the only SLC programs with representatives.
Harris enters the 2025 season on the heels of a 1,000-yard receiving campaign, the first of his career, which saw him haul in 87 passes (2nd all-time SFA DI) for 1,039 yards (2nd SLC) and ten touchdowns. He garnered All-America honors from multiple outlets and held top 20 FCS marks nationally in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards per game (86.6). All three marks landed inside the SLC's top three at season's end. The Pelican State native was one of the most reliable targets in the country ranking fourth nationally with a SLC-best 7.3 receptions per game.
Demmings played in 11 games last fall and earned All-SLC second team honors as a key member of the 'Jacks' secondary. He finished with 19 total tackles and led the team in pass breakups with a career-high ten behind a second-straight year with two interceptions. The Texan enters his final collegiate season four PBUs shy of entering the program's DI top ten and he is nine PBUs from becoming just the seventh DI Lumberjack to record 30 in a single career and the first since 2003.
