NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Track & Field Team gets set to host the Carl Kight Invite and Multi this weekend at Homer Bryce Stadium.
In their first and only home meet of the season, the Lumberjacks will look to build off their results from their last meet in the Victor Lopez Classic held on March 28th and 29th in Houston that was hosted by Rice University. Both the men and women's teams had some stellar performances from the meet that they will look to carry over into the Carl Kight Invite.
For the men, Elkana Kipruto finished in third in the 5,000 meter as his time was the second-best outdoor time posted in SFA school history. Jarvis Anderson won the 400-meter hurdles with a final time of 51.13. Meanwhile, Bryson Williams and Anderson took home first and second place in the triple jump event as they finished with distances of 15.65 and 15.45 meters respectively. Lastly, the men's 4x100 meter relay team placed second with a final time of 40.38 that marked as the best time by an SFA squad in the last four seasons.
For the women, Valentine Jemutai placed second in the women's 5,000 meters with a final time of 16:56.03, while Sharon Boyani finished right behind her with a final time of 16:56.54. Kennedy Swann finished with a season-best time of 11.77 in the 100-meter, which was good enough for a first-place finish. Finally, the women's 4x100 meter relay team took home a first-place finish with a final time of 45.66.
SFA will hit the road following this weekend as they travel to Waco to compete in the Michael Johnson Invite from April 18th-19th hosted by Baylor University.
