DELAND, Fla.- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Beach Volleyball Team (0-0, 0-0) opens their 2025 spring season in Deland, Florida as they compete in the Stetson Spring Fling, opening the tournament against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (0-0, 0-0).
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The SFA Lumberjacks make their return to the Southland Conference in 2025 looking to continue to build their program as they increased their win total by two games last season in the Sun Belt Conference. SFA was picked to finish fifth in the Southland this season as they will be led by returning sophomore Katie Hansen who was named to the Southland Players to Watch List after a stellar freshman season that saw her finish with an 18-13 overall record, competing in the top flight with Madison Hall, and recording wins over Oregon, Tulane, Utah, and College of Charleston. The Lumberjacks will see Sophia Myers, Kelly Johnson, Lizzie Denyer, Katie Hansen, Meagan Ledbetter, Lexi Higgins, Victoria Simmang, Ryann Allison, and Elaiana Amador all return this season, helping to provide valuable leadership to a roster that features 12 new faces this season.

The Nebraska University Cornhuskers will open their season against the Lumberjacks looking to build off a historic 2024 season that saw the Cornhuskers go 16-11, which was the most wins in Nebraska beach volleyball program history. Nebraska competed in the LBSU Tournament to end the 2024 season and competed against Pepperdine, CSUN, Texas, and Long Beach State. The Cornhuskers are led by Head Coach Jaylen Reyes and Assistant Coach Kelly (Hunter) Natter.

Friday's kick-off to the Stetson Spring Fling will feature the first all-time meeting between these two programs as SFA looks to start their 2025 season on a strong note.

Tritons at a Glance:
The Eckerd College Tritons come into the Stetson Spring Fling coming off a 2024 season that saw the Tritons go 8-20 overall and record a pair of wins in the AVCA Small College Championships. The Tritons roster features eight returners and seven newcomers this season, and are led by Head Coach Jade Antolik who is in her first season as Head Coach of the Beach Volleyball Program.

SFA's second game of the day on Friday will mark the first-ever meeting between these two programs.

Hatters at a Glance:
The Stetson University Hatters open up their second day of competition at the Stetson Spring Fling against SFA and are coming off a solid 2024 season that saw the Hatters finish 22-12, including an 11-2 home record and 10-9 away record. The Hatters competed in the ASUN Championship at the end of last season and recorded three wins before falling to the University of North Florida in the championship game. Stetson is led by Head Coach Kristina Hernandez who enters her 12th season with Stetson as the third winningest beach volleyball coach in NCAA history with a career record of 242-115.

SFA's first match of day two of the Stetson Spring Fling will mark the third all-time meeting between these two schools with Stetson winning the first two meetings including the most recent meeting in 2023 when they posted a 5-0 win over SFA.

DELAND, Fla. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Beach Volleyball Team (0-0, 0-0) closes out the Stetson Spring Fling against the Mercer University Bears (0-0, 0-0).
Bears at a Glance:
The Mercer University Bears close out competition at the Stetson Spring Fling against SFA looking to build on a 2024 season that saw the Bears go 17-19 with a 2-4 conference record. Mercer was a tough task at home as they finished a perfect 7-0 on their home courts. Mercer competed in the Sun Belt Championship and recorded a win over College of Charleston. Mercer is led by Head Coach Josh Marsh who has been with the Bears since 2019.
Series:
The concluding match of the Stetson Spring Fling will feature just the second all-time meeting between SFA and Mercer with the Bears winning the only other meeting back in 2022 when they defeated SFA 3-2.
