SFA Claims First SLC Win in 73-60 Final Against UTRGV

Chrishawn Christmas posts first double-double of the season in second-half bout.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Men's Basketball team defeated the Vaqueros of UTRGV in a 73-60 final on Wednesday, December 4.
The first half for both sides was a defensive bout, as the 'Jacks took a slim 29-26 lead into the half. SFA was able to open the scoring up early, taking a quick 10-3 lead with two three-pointers coming from Narit Chotikavanic. Not long after, the 'Jacks were able to keep steady, grasping onto a 12-point lead with a dominant performance from Chrishawn Christmas and national block leader, Jerald Colonel, scoring in the paint. UTRGV was able to stop the bleeding, closing the gap to give SFA a narrow 24-21 lead. The rest of the first half featured limited offense, with both teams only able to score five points.
