
Six Ladyjacks Record Double Figures as SFA Rolls Past TAMU-CC

Kaylinn Kemp sets a new career high with 19 points and records her fourth straight game with at least five assists.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program capped off a three-game homestand against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair as neither team held more than a three-point lead until a layup by Kaylinn Kemp gave the Ladyjacks a 23-19 lead with 31 seconds left in the first quarter.
Both teams struggled to shoot in the first three minutes of the second quarter. SFA broke their scoring drought first with a made free throw from Harmanie Dominguez, 24-19. The Islanders followed up with two made free throws from Samora Watson, 24-21. Both squads traded blows with the longest run of the quarter being four which SFA achieved twice. The Ladyjacks went into the halftime with a 40-31 lead.
TAMU-CC came out on fire in the third quarter as they rattled off five straight points to cut the SFA lead to four, 40-36. Two minutes later, the Ladyjacks responded with an 8-0 scoring spurt to extend their lead, 53-40 with 5:18 left in the third. SFA was not done yet as they capped of the quarter on an incredible 10-0 run to take a 20-point lead into the final quarter, 63-43.
Both teams put the pressure on each other in the final 10 minutes, but SFA was able to hover around a 20-point lead for the rest of the game. The Ladyjacks secured a 84-62 victory after finishing the game on a 5-3 run.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA extends their win streak against TAMUCC to five games and hold a 26-4 series lead.
• Six Ladyjacks recorded double figures which is the most in a single game this season.
• Kaylinn Kemp set a new career high with 19 points while tacking on a team-leading five assists for her fourth straight game.
• Aziyah Farrier followed with her third double-double of the season with 13 points and led the team and tied her career high with 14 rebounds while shooting a perfect 5-5 from the floor.
• Hamanie Dominguez and Key Roseby each added 11 points each and recorded 11 rebounds between the two.
• Lydia Cajuste and Anika Hyland also recorded 10 points. Hyland tied her career high with four steals.
UP NEXT
SFA will head up to Fayetteville, Arkansas as they will face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. This will be the Ladyjacks first visit to Arkansas since the 2023 WNIT.
