NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team (12-2, 2-1 SLC) started 2025 with a home conference matchup against the Houston Christian Huskies (4-8, 1-2 SLC).
The Ladyjacks started where they left off against TAMUSA with an 10-0 run that included two three-pointers from Harmanie Dominguez, who was presented with a 1,000-career point ball before the game. HCU got their first points of the match with 7:37 left in the first. Both teams traded baskets until SFA went on a 10-1 run to end the first quarter, which was capped off by a three-pointer from Key Roseby, 24-7.
Both teams traded blows to begin the second quarter until SFA went on a scorching 14-0 run to take a commanding 43-11 lead with 3:12 left in the first half. HCU hit a three-pointer before the 'Jacks finished the second quarter on a 6-0 run with Cha Gardner finishing the run with a layup. The Ladyjacks headed into the locker room with a 49-14 lead.
SFA scored the first four points of the second half, but HCU responded with a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to 55-26 with 2:34 left in the third. The 'Jacks finished out the third quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 61-28 lead heading into the final quarter.
The 'Jacks started on a 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter and extended their lead to 71-28 with 5:31 left in the game. HCU would not go away without a fight as they went on a 7-2 run, 73-35. SFA finished the game on a 9-0 run that was capped off by a three-pointer from Ituau Tuisaula with 28 seconds left to secure an 82-35 win.
