
Men’s and Women’s Golf Wrap up Golfweek Fall Challenge

Pawley's Island, South Carolina- The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's golf teams wrapped up the first tournament of the season in Pawley's Island, South Carolina competing in the Golfweek Fall Challenge
The men finished 10th out of 15 teams, shooting a combined +16 over par and 880 total strokes through the three days of play.
Eyan Edsall was the top finisher for the men as he tied for 13th at -3 under par. Eyan had rounds of 68, 73 and 72 finishing with 213 total strokes.
Cameron Hubbard finished tied for 42nd at +5 over par with 221 total strokes. Carter Patterson made his lumberjacks debut after transferring from McLennan Community College. Patterson finished tied for 50th at +9 over par and 225 total strokes. Sam Gargis also finished tied for 50th at +9 over par and 225 total strokes.
Matthew Hewitt rounded out the starting five for the Lumberjacks, finishing tied for 67th at +15 over par with 231 total strokes. Freshman Cordell Knox made his debut for the Lumberjacks playing as an individual and finished tied for 78th at +22 over par with 238 total strokes.
The women finished 18th out of 18 teams shooting a combined +94 over par with 946 total strokes through the three days of play
Lumberjacks' newcomer Sydney Moss made her debut after transferring from the University of Memphis. Moss was the top finisher for the women tying for 45th place at +12 over par with 225 total strokes.
Avree Fields finished tied for 72nd at +21 over par with 234 total strokes. Kinley Pessel finished tied for 80th at +29 over par with 242 total strokes. Brooke Dishman finished tied for 84th overall at +32 over par with 245 total strokes. Jessica Aguirre rounded out the starting five and finished in 93rd place. Aguirre had to withdraw on the final day of competition due to an injury.
Shanna Sandoval also made her debut for the women after transferring from McLennan Community College playing as an individual and finished tied for 58th at +16 over par with 229 total strokes.
The men will be back in action this weekend at the Wildcat Invitational, September 16th-17th in Manhattan, Kansas. The tournament is being hosted by Kansas State University.
The women will return to action September 23rd-24th as they travel to Huntsville, Texas to compete in the Bearkat Invitational hosted by Sam Houston State University.
