
Five Lumberjack and Ladyjack Golfers Receive Academic Awards

Norman, Oklahoma/Coral Springs, Florida- Two Lumberjacks Men's Golfers and three Ladyjacks Women's Golfers received academic All-American awards.
Matthew Hewitt and Eyan Edsall have been named to the 2023-24 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars list.
To be eligible for the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination an individual must be a high achiever on and off the field of play. To be selected, a student athlete must:
Matthew, a junior from Ormond Beach, Florida, competed in eight tournaments for the Lumberjacks this season and finished in 48th place at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship.
Eyan, a sophomore from Montgomery, Texas, played in nine tournaments for the Lumerjacks last season and finished 52nd overall at the WAC conference championships.
Graduate students Valerie Routzong, Sloane Bennett and Sydni Leung were also named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar list. The trio were among the 1,497 women's collegiate golfers from 412 programs to be recognized as WGCA All-America Scholars.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must:

- Participate in fifty percent of their team's competitive rounds
- Have a stroke average under 76.0
- Maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2

- Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
