Lumberjacks Fall to Demons in Season Finale

Both schools would trade scoreless first and second innings before the third inning saw both teams break the ice on the scoreboard. SFA would strike first in the top of the third as Cole Hill would get a green light on a 3-0 count and crushed his ninth home run of the season over the left field wall to tie Nolan Brown for the team lead in long balls and give SFA a 1-0 lead. The Demons would respond in the bottom half of the third with three runs of their own to hold a 3-1 lead after three full innings of play.
The top of the fifth inning saw SFA strike again on the scoreboard as following a one-out double by Cole Hill, and a five-pitch walk by Brock Knoerr, Cal Martin would send an RBI single into left-center field to score Hill from second and pull SFA to within a run at 3-2. Northwestern State would add on nine runs in the bottom half of the fifth, however, to hold a 12-2 lead after five full innings. The Demons would add another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 13-2 lead, and SFA was unable to find the answer as the 10-run rule was instituted in the seventh inning with the Demons claiming a 13-2 win.
Cole Hill (2-3, 2R, RBI, 2B, HR) put a stamp on his successful senior season as he recorded a pair of extra-base hits while scoring both of SFA's runs on the afternoon. Cal Martin (1-2, BB, RBI) picked up his 25th RBI of the season with his RBI single in the fifth inning, while Alex Gomez (1-1), Tom Biggs (1-4), and Will Dixon (1-3) all recorded hits as well for SFA. Caleb Rutledge (1-5) took the loss for SFA while Bryce Leonard (3-2) took the win for Northwestern State.
The Lumberjacks season comes to an end with today's game as they will say goodbye to their 19 graduating seniors in Cody Fleischer, Crew Wilson, Caleb Rutledge, Cade Stapleton, Tom Biggs, Nolan Brown, Cole Hill, Caleb Cude, Julian Thompson, Cal Martin, Peyton Parker, Skyler Jaco, Carter Hines, Sam Adams, Hunter Prescher, Conner Woods, Cody Smith, Dylan Bourgeois, and Dylan Savino whom we wish nothing but the best in their future endeavors and thank them for their contributions to the SFA Baseball program over their careers.
