
‘Jacks Fall to Warhawks in Midweek Matchup

MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Softball team (15-34, 8-12) lost their final non-conference game of the season to the ULM Warhawks (28-20, 9-9) as the Warhawks claimed a 10-0 home win over SFA.
The Warhawks got the scoring started early in this one as they would score four runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 4-0 lead. The Warhawks would keep the runs coming with another run in the second and two more runs in the third inning to hold a 7-0 lead heading to the fourth inning. ULM would score three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to hold a 10-0 lead which they would not relinquish as they were able to institute the run-rule in an eventual 10-0 win over SFA.
Mallory Webb (2-2) led the offensive effort for SFA today as she recorded a pair of singles and has now recorded multiple hits in two of her last three games, while recording a hit in three of her last four games. Amiah Galcatcher (1-2) joined Webb in the hitting department as she has now recorded three hits over her last two games. Meanwhile, Hope Lusk (0-1, BB) and Chloe Reneau (0-1, BB) both drew walks on the evening as Reneau has now reached base safely in four straight games and in five of her last six contests.
Kayla Palomino made her first collegiate start in the circle tonight for SFA and pitched three innings, inducing four flyouts and four groundouts from the Warhawk hitters. Delilah Robles came in of relief of Palomino in the fourth inning and induced one flyout and two groundouts from the ULM batters in her lone inning of relief. The SFA infield remained busy in this one as the quartet of Kelby Robbins, Ellie Vance, Chloe Reneau, and Hope Lusk combined for seven putouts and six assists defensively.
The Lumberjacks will travel back home to Nacogdoches for their next series as they will play their final home series of the season against the WAC-leading Grand Canyon Lopes in a pivotal three-game weekend series at SFA Softball Field. The series kicks off with a Friday afternoon doubleheader with first pitch of the first game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CST and the second game starting approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Meanwhile, the series finale has first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CST on Saturday.
