Arlington, Texas- Jaxon Griffith has been named the Co WAC Men's Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate in Oberlin, Louisiana.
Jaxon Griffth, a senior from Lufkin, Texas, was named the co-champion of the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate that took place April 8th-9th. Jaxon led the way for the Lumberjacks finishing the tournament at -8 under par and shooting -4 under par for his final round. Jaxon shot under par every round during the tournament with individual round score of 69, 71, and 68. Griffith totaled 208 strokes through the three rounds of play. His win at the Koasati Pines Intercollegiate was the first win of his collegiate career.
Head Coach Trey Schroeder said, "I am proud of Jaxon for winning especially since it was his second to last regular season event as a college golfer. It was impressive to see him bounce back after a tough event in South Carolina. It is very difficult to win a division one tournament and he will be able to cherish it for the rest of his life."
Coach Trey also commented on the upcoming WAC Championships saying, "I feel like he is hitting his stride at just the right time going into the WAC Championships in a couple of weeks."
