Lumberjacks Men’s Golf Finish Fifth at Gulf Coast Collegiate

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team finished fifth overall at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Lumberjacks finished +50 over par with a team total of 914 strokes through the three rounds of play.
Matthew Hewitt and Cameron Hubbard were the top finishers for the Lumberjacks as they were both tied for ninth place overall. Both men finished at +7 over par with 223 total strokes through three rounds of play. Jaxon Griffith finished tied for 31st at +16 over par and a total of 232 strokes on the tournament. Rick Frauenberger finished tied for 66th at +24 over par and a total of 240 strokes on the tournament. Finally, Joe Paul Pennington finished tied for 80th at +30 over par and a total of 246 strokes on the tournament. Jake Smelser competed as an individual and finished 73rd overall at +26 over par and a total of 242 strokes on the tournament.
The men will be back in action March 4th-5th at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas.
