Lumberjacks Lose Final Midweek Game to Chippewas

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks lost the final game of a six game homestand to the Central Michigan Chippewas by a final score of 11-10.

Central Michigan got the scoring started in the first and second innings scoring one run in the first and two in the second. The Lumberjacks then responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with one run thanks to a solo home run from Nolan Brown over the left center field wall.

Central Michigan added five more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to jump out to an 8-1 lead. Stephen F. Austin responded in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring seven runs and tying the game at eight all.

Both teams were held scoreless until the eleventh inning. Central Michigan scored three runs in the top of the eleventh to lead 11-8. The Lumberjacks came to the plate in the bottom of the inning and had back-to-back hits from Colton Griffin and Cole Hill to lead off the inning. Tom Biggs came to the plate two batter later and came through with a single into right field bringing home Griffin and Hill. Nolan Brown struck out to end the rally and the Chippewas won by a final score of 11-10.

Evan Waters (1-2) picked up his first win on the mound for Central Michigan and Kade Parker (0-1) took the loss for Stephen F. Austin.

The Lumberjacks will head down to Houston to participate in the Sugar land Classic hosted by the Sugar land Space Cowboys February 23-25 at Constellation Field. You can keep up with all the action through social media and on our website via live stats as none of the games will be broadcast.
