
Ashlyn Traylor-Walker Achieves Career Milestone as Ladyjacks Earn Sixth Win in a Row

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team (6-0, 0-0 SLC) headed to Jacksonville for the North Florida MTE where they faced off against the Samford Bulldogs (2-7, 0-0 SoCon) in their first game of the tournament.
Samford jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but Ashlyn Traylor-Walker would single-handedly bring the Ladyjacks back with two layups and a free throw to tie the score at five. Both teams traded baskets until SFA went on a 9-1 run to end the first quarter and went into the first quarter break with a 16-11 lead.
The Bulldogs scored the first basket of the second quarter but the 'Jacks quickly took control with a 7-0 run to bring their lead to double digits, 23-13. Samford made two free throws before SFA went on another seven-point run to double up the Bulldogs, 30-15 with 5:57 left in the second quarter. With 2:57 left in the half, Traylor-Walker put in a layup for her 1,000th career point and kept the 'Jacks in front 38-23. Both teams continued to trade blows the rest of the quarter but a three-pointer from Avery VanSickle with 26 seconds left kept the Ladyjacks lead in double digits as they went into the locker room with a 41-31 lead.
SFA started the third quarter off with a 7-2 lead to extend the 'Jacks lead to 48-33 with 8:19 left in the third. Trinity Moore and Cha Gardner hit back-to-back layups with 5:55 left in the quarter, 54-38. The 'Jacks finished the quarter on an 8-0 run with back-to-back threes from Ituau Tuisaula and VanSickle to take a 67-44 advantage into the fourth.
Samford went on a 8-2 run to begin the fourth, 69-52, but a layup from Tuisaula put the 'Jacks up 19, 71-52. The Ladyjack offense exploded on an 13-0 run to take a 30-point lead with four minutes left in the game, 84-54. Samford outscored the 'Jacks in the final four minutes but it was too little too late as SFA secured their sixth win in a row with a 90-66 win.
