Sam Vidlak Named Finalist for Walter Payton Award

DALLAS, Texas- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks quarterback Sam Vidlak has been named a Walter Payton Award Finalist.
Sam was a key piece for the Lumberjacks this season at quarterback in only his first season after transferring to SFA from Montana. Sam was 174 of 257 (67.7%), 2,387 yards, 27 touchdowns, four interceptions through only nine games this season. Sam missed the final three games of the season after suffering an injury in a Lumberjacks 28-16 win over Nicholls.
Sam was recently named the 2024 Southland Newcomer of the Year and also named to the 2024 Southland All-Conference offensive second team.
