NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin athletic department announced today the first phase of stadium improvements at Pilgrim's Park ahead of the 2025 baseball season.
Improvements to the complex will begin immediately in preparation for the 2025 season. SFA is replacing and resurfacing the entire infield, and a new locker room will be added to the indoor facility. The current locker room on the third base side will be removed.
During the next few weeks baseball will also be repainting all the dugouts, increase the SFA branding surrounding Pilgrim's Park, install broadcast fiber and add a replay system. The city of Nacogdoches will be updating the concession locations and restrooms.
The improvements will be in place before the first home series when the Lumberjacks host Arkansas-Pine Bluff (February 21-23) to start the 2025 home schedule.
"These immediate changes to Pilgrim's Park show that the athletic department and the university are dedicated to improving the program," said first-year head coach Matt Vanderberg." We want our current players to understand that they are a huge part of the program moving forward and we want them to see that we are not waiting around to make changes to motivate them. We have a great administration who knows that we need the current player to envision the future for this program and to be the catalyst that will be an integral part of changing SFA baseball."
The Lumberjacks 2025 season opens Friday, February 14 when they travel to Sugar Land, Texas to face Purdue in a four-game series.
