
Three Ladyjacks Score Double-Digits as SFA Dominates Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash.- Stephen F. Austin (12-6, 6-1) defeated Seattle University (1-15, 1-6) 82-66, Thursday night.
Seattle jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held SFA scoreless until Zoe Nelson scored a layup to cut the lead down to three. The Redhawks extended their lead to 8-2, but the 'Jacks responded with a mini three-point run of their own. The teams traded baskets until the final minute and a half of the quarter when Kyla Deck nailed a three-pointer and scored a fastbreak layup to tie the game up at 15. Seattle scored the first points of the second quarter, but Tyler McCliment-Call scored a three to give the 'Jacks the lead. SU and SFA continued to trade points for the rest of the quarter, but SFA ended the quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 34-28 lead at halftime. The Ladyjacks claimed a double-digit lead with 5:52 left in the third after Kurstyn Harden scored a layup. The triumphant return of Mele Finau continued in the third when she nailed two three-pointers in the final two minutes of the quarter as the 'Jacks took a 23-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. SFA continued to hold a twenty point lead for a majority of the fourth quarter and Avery VanSickle sealed the deal for the 'Jacks after she nailed a corner three with 42 seconds left.
Kurstyn Harden led the team with 20 points, followed by Zoe Nelson with 14 and Kyla Deck with 13. Nelson also led the team with seven rebounds, followed by Harden and Deck who grabbed five boards. Lydia Cooke-Wiggins and Deck tied for the lead with five assists. Tyler McCliment-Call and Deck each recorded four assists. SFA led SU in field goal percentage (50.8-36.7), free throw percentage (76.9-63.6), points in the paint (50-26), points off turnovers (15-7), second chance points (11-5), fastbreak points (18-7), and bench points (29-6).
