
Nine SFA Bowlers Named to 2023 SBL Academic Honor Roll

The Southland Bowling League announced its 2023 Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday, recognizing 57 student-athletes across the league's eight institutions. SFA had nine athletes that qualified.
Stephen F. Austin, Vanderbilt, and Youngstown State lead the league with nine selections to the honor roll. Louisiana Tech had eight honorees, Arkansas State had seven selections, Tulane earned six picks, Sam Houston had five honorees, and Valparaiso earned four spots.
Twelve all-academic selections also received all-conference honors, including Southland Bowler of the Year Mabel Cummins of Vanderbilt.
The nine SFA bowlers with high enough GPAs to be named to the SBL Academic Honor Roll were: Carlene Beyer (4.00), Carlen Gattenby (4.00), Kathleen Heady (4.00), Crystal George (3.93), Frances Davila (3.90), Isabel Hughes (3.65), Hana Roers (3.55), Megan George (3.51), and Kara Kay (3.14).
