ELMHURST, Illinois - Ladyjacks finish in the top five for the final season poll for the National Ten Pin Coaches Association. SFA finished in the top five in every NTCA poll this season.
Vanderbilt's national championship run at the NCAA Championship last month made the Commodores a near-unanimous choice to top the National Ten Pin Coaches Association (NTCA) final poll of the 2022-23 season. Vanderbilt was followed by national runner-up Arkansas State, McKendree and Nebraska – the four teams that won their regionals and competed at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas.
The Commodores, 98-29, won the Lansing Regional but dropped their opening Final Four match to Arkansas State before bouncing back in the elimination bracket to beat McKendree and Nebraska by 2-0 mega-match scores and rallied from behind to defeat Arkansas State, 4-3, in the title match. Voters chose Vanderbilt on 16 of the 18 ballots cast while McKendree earned the other two votes.
Stephen F. Austin, North Carolina A&T, Youngstown State, Maryville, Sam Houston, and Louisiana Tech round out the final Top 10. Six of those teams are members of the Southland Bowling League, soon to transition to Conference USA. Six of the Top 25 members come from the Division II NCAA classification. They include McKendree (3), Maryville (8), Newman (13), Mercyhurst (14), Lincoln Memorial (16) and Central Missouri (19). Division III members Wisconsin-Whitewater (18) and Medaille (21) also cracked the Top 25.
