NACOGDOCHES, Texas. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Basketball team continues their three-game homestand to begin the season with a first time meeting with Liberty.

Stephen F. Austin comes into this match against Liberty on the heels of a commanding 118-46 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University. In the game against the Aggies, 11 Ladyjacks recorded points, while six of those players recorded double-digit points.
Kurstyn Harden and Mimi Gatewood led the offensive onslaught by SFA on Monday as Gatewood led the team with 19 points on 7/13 shooting and 4/4 shooting from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Harden had a strong all-around game as she finished second on the team with 17 points on 7/10 shooting and led the team with nine rebounds. Avery VanSickle scored 14 points as she shot 7/13 from the field including draining a pair of three-pointers. In addition, Destini Lombard scored 13 on 5/6 shooting, Ituau Tuisaula scored 11 points on a perfect 5/5 shooting, while Trinity Slocum scored ten as she hit a pair of three pointers.
Overall, the Ladyjacks finished with 42 rebounds as a team, which led to 21 second chance points, shot at an impressive 51.7% clip from the field and shot almost 70% from the free-throw line. The Ladyjacks also got massive production from their bench as they totaled 73 bench points, were relentless down low as they recorded 72 points in the paint, and stayed active all day on defense as they had 64 points off turnovers and finished with 30 steals.
This win for the Ladyjacks marked the first career win for Head Coach Leonard Bishop, who was promoted to the Head Coach position after former Head Coach Mark Kellogg left for West Virginia. The Ladyjacks have now won their last five games at the Sawmill dating back to last season.

The Liberty University Flames travel to Nacogodches coming off a solid 68-46 home win over Forstburg State in their season opener. The win marked the first for Liberty to kick off their Conference USA era and also marked career win no. 548 for Head Coach Carey Green, which makes him the winningest coach in Liberty Athletics history. All 12 players in uniform for the Lady Flames scored against Frostburg State
Three players scored in double-digits for Liberty which was highlighted by Emma Hess who led with 21 points and shot 5/6 from downtown. Freshman Brooke Moore totaled 13 points in her debut, which was the most points by a Liberty freshman in her debut game since 2011-12. Bella Smuda recorded a double-double for the Lady Flames as she finished with ten points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead Liberty.
Liberty finished the game shooting 39.4% from the field, while making exactly one third of their three pointers as they shot 7/21 from beyond the arc, and finished with 53 total rebounds as a team. Liberty led the Bobcats in points in the paint (34-16), second chance points (26-7), and bench points (30-29).
Series: This will be the first ever meeting between Liberty and SFA, SFA is one of two WAC opponents that Liberty will play this season as they will host GCU in December.
