Aiyana Johnson Scores Season-High 22 Points as Ladyjacks Cruise Past Wolverines at Home

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Utah Valley, 72-46 Thursday night. SFA improves to 15-3 (5-1) while UVU falls to 4-14 (1-6).
The Ladyjacks and Wolverines traded blows in the first quarter and SFA went into the quarter break with a 14-10 lead. SFA held UVU to only eight points in the second quarter and finished the first half on an 18-2 spurt and went into the locker room with a 35-18 lead. The Ladyjacks hovered around a 20-point lead and finished the third quarter with a 21-point lead, 51-30. Aiyana Johnson dominated the beginning of the fourth quarter as she scored SFA's first six points of the quarter. SFA continued to grow their lead and cruised to a 72-46 victory.
SFA led UVU in several stat categories including; points in the paint (40-20), points off turnovers (23-9), second chance points (12-10), fast break points (11-6), bench points (16-12), field goal percentage (45.2-40.0), and three-point percentage (23.3-12.5). Johnson led the Ladyjacks with a season-high 22 points, followed by Tyler McCliment-Call who went 4-7 from behind the arc and scored 14 points. Avery Brittingham led the team with seven rebounds, followed by McCliment-Call who snagged six. Four-time WAC Freshman player of the week, Jordan Harrison led SFA with six assists and three steals. Angel Scott and Zoe Nelson each recorded two blocks against the Wolverines.
The Ladyjacks will play the UT-Arlington Mavericks at home on Saturday, January 21st at 2:00 p.m.
