NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's basketball program continues their non-conference schedule against the North American Stallion as the Lumberjacks look to get back in the win column.
Lumberjacks Statistical Analysis
The 'Jacks remain top 3 in the nation in turnovers forced per game (21.27) after forcing 19 turnovers against Furman.
Latrell Jossell continues to be a lethal sharp shooter from the three-point line as he has made 23 buckets on 43 attempts (53.5%) and is now leading the team in points per game with 14.4 ppg. He leads the team in the three-point categories, but he isn't the only strong shooter from beyond the arc. The 'Jacks as a team shot 41.9% from the three-point line, which is still 6th in the nation.
Sadaidriene Hall remains a factor in the paint both offensively and defensively as he leads the team in field goal percentage (58%) and total rebounds (68). Hall leads the WAC conference in field goal percentage and is 46th in the nation.

Furman defeated Stephen F. Austin 72-70 Saturday night in non-conference action. The Lumberjacks fall to 6-5 and the Paladins improve to 8-4.
For the second straight match for the Lumberjacks, all 40 minutes was needed to decide the winner of the game. However, this game was a tale of two halves for the 'Jacks. Nothing seemed to go the 'Jacks way in the first half as they found themselves down 44-22 going into the break, shooting a dismal 26.47% from the field and only making one of eight baskets from beyond the arc.
Coach Keller must've lit a spark in the Lumberjacks during the halftime break, because once the team took the court, it was a whole new ballgame. The 'Jacks scored a remarkable 18 unanswered points at the start at the second half. During that run, the "PressU" defense forced five turnovers. Following the 18-point run, both teams took back and forth blows all the way to the final seconds. The 'Jacks rebounded from the first half and recorded a 62.50% field goal percentage and went 7-12 from the three-point line, six of those baskets coming from Latrell Jossell, who was the team's lead scorer with 21 points.
With 40 seconds remaining on the clock, Nigel Hawkins threw up and made a hail mary three-pointer with the shot clock hitting zero that would've put the game away and secured the win. But after the officials reviewed the play, they determined that Hawkins did not release the ball in time and withdrew the three points. The final shot of the match came from Mike Bothwell who made a fade-away jump shot to win the game for the Paladins and capped off a career day with 36 points, going 12-14 from the field and going a perfect 11-11 on free throws.
AJ Cajuste recorded another big game with 18 points, going two for three from beyond the arc, tallying four assists and three steals. Hawkins dropped 13 points on the night, picked up four rebounds, and a steal. Nana Antwi-Boasiako almost recorded a double-double as he got nine points of his own and led the team with nine rebounds.
The Lumberjacks led in the following statistical categories: three-point percentage (40.0-28.6), points off turnovers (20-14), and bench points (23-5).

The Lumberjacks were voted to finish third in the both the WAC Pre-Season Coaches' Poll and the WAC Preseason Media Poll.
In the coaches' poll, SFA finished with 111 votes and are 16 points behind second-place New Mexico State, and 10 points ahead of fourth-ranked Abilene Christian. In the media poll, the 'Jacks are slated between NM State, and ACU.

Duo Named to All-WAC Preseason Team
Sophomores Sadaidriene Hall and Jaylin Jackson-Posey were selected to the All-WAC Preseason Second Team, as voted by the coaches. Jackson-Posey was additionally named to the All-WAC Preseason Media Team.
Jackson-Posey had a standout 2021-22 freshman campaign.
The Midland, Texas native appeared in 31 games on the season, starting in seven of those matchups and averaged 22.1 minutes, 7.5 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game. Jackson-Posey recorded 67 assists, 41 steals, and 25 blocks throughout the year, being ranked in the top three on the team in each of those categories. Additionally, he scored double digits in eight games.
Hall played a significant role for the 'Jacks last season.
Hall in all 32 games on the season, starting in three of those matches and averaged 19.7 minutes, 9.4 points, and 5.3 rebounds per game. A key player on the court, he had the second -best field goal percentage (.578) on the team with a minimum of 100 attempts, third most points scored in the season (300), third most rebounds (170), third most steals (39), and second most blocks (27). The Sulphur Springs, Texas native Scored double digits in 14 games including a 28-point double-double performance against Wiley, and15 points on the board in the senior night matchup against Abilene Christian, which included a game winning jump shot as the clock hit zero.
