NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Northwestern State defeated Stephen F. Austin 102-96 Thursday evening in non-conference action.

The Demons improved to 6-2 and the Lumberjacks fall to 4-4.

The 'Jacks received a standout performance from AJ Cajuste. The 6-foot-1 guard dropped a career-high 27 points and shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Cajuste also grabbed six boards and handed out three assists.

Nigel Hawkins scored 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the floor, while Kyle Hayman added 13 points and went a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

Nana Antwi-Boasiako helped out with 11 points and hauled in five rebounds.

As a team, SFA shot 56.6 percent (30-for-53) from the field, including 67.9 percent (19-for-28) in the second half.

Both teams recorded 30 rebounds and 34 points in the paint.

The 'Jacks are off for 10 days and return to the hardwood Sunday, December 11 versus Paul Quinn for a 1 p.m. start.
