
Gipson Repeats as WAC Offensive Player of the Year; 'Jacks Place League-High 16 Honorees on All-WAC Team

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference champion Stephen F. Austin football team placed a league-high 16 honorees on its All-WAC Team, as voted by the conference's head coaches.
For the second season in a row, All-American wide receiver Xavier Gipson earned WAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Gipson had a standout 2022 season. The Dallas, Texas native and Walter Payton Award Watch List nominee led the WAC in several statistical categories, including 1163 receiving yards, 105.7 receiving yards per game, and 5.9 receptions per game. Gipson added seven receiving touchdowns and 135.09 all-purpose yards per game.
Seven Lumberjacks were named to All-WAC First Team. Gipson is a first team selection at wide receiver and returner. Chad Aune (TE), Justice Guillory (OL), BJ Thompson (DL), Myles Heard (DB), and Chris Campos (K) earned a spot on the first team. Campos, Gipson, Heard, and Thompson were named to the first team for the second season in a row.
Nine Lumberjacks graced the All-WAC Second Team.
Trae Self (QB), Miles Reed (RB), Daniel Keys (OL), Jaret Porterfield (OL), Edward Bobino (DL), Amad Murray (DL), Jermaine Brown (LB), Bruce Harmon (DB), and Max Quick (P).
Self and Reed both were All-WAC Second Team honorees in 2021.
