NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin cross country teams finished up at the WAC cross country meet and the men finished fifth with 193 points and the women finished seventh with 215 points.
Head Coach Robert Hansen said, "our men had a season long goal of finishing fourth. We missed that goal by six points, unfortunately. With that said I'm really proud of how our men competed."
Lewis Mills led the way for men, achieving a second team all WAC performance. Four of the top five runners for the men finished with lifetime bests including Riley Elliot who was 30 seconds faster than ever before. The men moved from ninth last year to fifth this year, expecting to elevate even further.
The women came into the tournament a little beat up and finished seventh overall. Coach Hansen noted, "we expected a little bit stronger of a performance as a whole, but I know the girls did everything they could today. For that I'm proud."
Rachel Taylor led the way for the Ladyjacks, after a roller coaster of a season. Coach Hansen described her running today as "absolutely gritty".
