Ladyjacks Rattle GCU in Second Half

PHOENIX, Arizona --
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (17-3, 8-0 WAC) remain unbeaten in Western Athletic Conference play snagging a well-earned victory tonight at Grand Canyon fueled by outscoring the Lopes 36-13 in the second half to grab a 61-43 league win.
The Ladyjacks trailed by five at the half (30-25) as the Lopes registered 10 more shot attempts in the first 20 minutes of play to the Ladyjacks, but SFA maintained poise at the free throw line (9-14 FT) to stay in contention after going scoreless for nearly seven minutes in the second quarter.
It was all about the second half for the 'Jacks, stamped by back-to-back three's from Tasharian Robinson to give SFA their first lead halfway through the third quarter, 32-30. SFA held GCU to just two points in the 10-minute stanza holding a 44-32 advantage heading into the fourth, able to secure the lead by double-figures throughout the fourth.
Four Ladyjacks finished in double figures tonight led by Brianna Mitchell with 14 points, five rebounds and one assist. Stephanie Visscher (10 points and 15 rebounds) and Aiyana Johnson (11 points and 11 rebounds) notched double-doubles tonight in addition to a 12 points and eight rebounds from Zya Nugent.
SFA will be back in action on Thursday, February 3rd for a matchup at Utah Valley. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
