WTEN: Ladyjacks Stun No. 1 Sam Houston in First Round of SLC Championship

BEAUMONT, Texas -- After mother nature decided when to begin the 2021 Southland Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday, the SFA Ladyjacks were able to knock off No. 1 seed Sam Houston in the first round this afternoon. Today's win was the first SLC postseason victory for the 'Jacks since 2017. SFA moves to 11-9 on the year, and will face No. 4 seed Texas A&M Corpus Christi tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
"I am extremely proud of this team," said Head Coach Erin Scott. "We played our best doubles point of the year and followed that with tremendous energy in singles play. We will enjoy this win before turning our focus tomorrow to TAMUCC."
Day one consisted of two more upsets, as No. 6 ACU defeated No. 3 UCA and No. 7 Lamar took down No. 2 New Orleans as well.
