
Ladyjack Bowling Competes at Southland Conference Championship over Weekend

HARAHAN, La. -- The SFA bowling team competed at the Southland Bowling League championships on Friday and Saturday in Harahan, Louisiana, but were unable to advance to the title match after being relegated to the consolation bracket on Day One and dropping their third match of the tournament to Louisana Tech, 994-979.
Match 1: No. 2 Louisiana Tech vs. No. 7 Stephen F. Austin
The Ladyjacks went down to the wire with the Lady Techsters, but Louisiana Tech squeaked out the opening-round victory with a 4-3 win in the Baker Best-of-Seven game. Louisiana Tech opened the matchup with a 1,055-992 win in the traditional game, but Stephen F. Austin stormed back and recovered in the total pinfall set. The Lady Techsters came through in the final game of the best-of-seven round, outscoring the 'Jacks 238-208 to advance to the winner's bracket.
Match 2: No. 6 Tulane vs. No. 7 Stephen F. Austin
Once again, SFA forced a thrilling match, taking the Green Wave to the best-of-seven round and winning by a score of 4-3. The Ladyjacks erupted for 1,052 pins in the traditional game on the shoulders of Carlene Beyer, who registered a 260. Tommie White added in 254 in the third spot for SFA as the 'Jacks overpowered Tulane 1,052-928 in the opening set.
The Green Wave responded in the total pinfall game, outscoring the Ladyjacks 1,024-939. The teams then traded wins in the opening four games of the best-of-seven matchup before Stephen F. Austin took two of the final three games to survive and close out the afternoon in the win column.

Match 3 vs. Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Tech hit the ground running in round three, leaping out to a 994-979 win in the traditional game against Stephen F. Austin and never looking back. Danielle Jedlicki led the Lady Techsters with a sizzling 243 in the opening set and was boosted by a 205 from Lindsay Manning and a 204 from Ashley Channell. Louisiana Tech continued its success in the Baker set, downing the Ladyjacks 999-930 and eliminating SFA from the SBL Championship.
