
Visscher and Co. Take Wing at Lamar, 92-64

BEAUMONT, Texas -- The RV SFA Ladyjacks (20-2, 12-0) chirped away from the Montagne Center for win No. 20 Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lamar Cardinals (8-13, 7-6 SLC) on their home court. The Cardinals configured three players in double-figures with Micaela Wilson and Bebe Galloway scoring 18 apiece, as Jadyn Pimentel chipped in 16 points and seven assists, but, the Ladyjacks represented their consistent balance and depth in this road victory, led by Pilgrim's Player of the Game Stephanie Visscher (20 points, five rebounds, eight assists, three steals and one block), in addition to Aiyana Johnson (12) and Marissa Banfield (11).
GAME CHANGERS
- SFA shot 57.1 percent from the field, Lamar converted on 42.3 percent
- The Ladyjacks converted on 14-28 shots from beyond the arc. Visscher knocked in four, Banfield swished three herself
- 27 of SFA's 36 made field goals were assisted
- While the Ladyjacks caught fire from 3-point land, they held the Cardinals to 0-11 from deep
- The SFA bench was prominent, outscoring Lamar's 33-4. BriAnna Mitchell and Tasharian sparked the bench scoring eight points each, plus Aaliyah Johnson and Avery Brittingham scoring seven apiece, respectively
LADYJACK STATUS
SFA clinched the Southland Conference regular season championship on Wednesday with a win against Northwestern State at William R. Johnson Coliseum, giving the Ladyjacks an automatic green light to the SLC Tournament set to begin on Wednesday, March 10th in Katy. The Ladyjacks slate No. 20 in the NCAA NET Rankings, as well as receiving votes in the AP Top 25.
UP NEXT
The Ladyjacks will complete the regular season this week, as they will take on ACU on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and travel to Sam Houston for the final game before the postseason.
