The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks fell to the Portland Pilots 70-59 in Oregon on Tuesday night. The 'Jacks now will head home with a record of 8-3 after dropping both games on the final non-conference road trip of the season.
Both teams traded shots in the first quarter with the Ladyjacks taking a one-point advantage into the second frame. The Pilots were able to build a small 5-point cushion in the second quarter to take into the locker room. The 'Jacks were held to 9 points in the third quarter and fell behind double digits but they kept fighting, as they went on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to just 5 points with just under five minutes remaining. The Pilots, however, proceeded to go on a 7-0 run of their own to put the game out of reach.
Stephanie Visscher and Aiyana Johnson led the way for the 'Jacks with 14 points each. Visscher also added 10 rebounds and a couple of steals and Johnson grabbed 9 boards of her own with a block. Tyler McCliment-Call had a strong showing against her old school, as she went a perfect 4-4 from the floor in the first half for 8 points.
The 'Jacks have one non-conference game remaining before kicking off their inaugural WAC campaign. The game will be at home against Southeastern Louisiana on Monday, December 20th at 2:00 p.m.
