The SFA Ladyjacks improved to 6-1 on the season as they took down the Ball State Cardinals by a score of 87-66. The 'Jacks are now 2-0 at the Van Chancellor Classic.
It was a back-and-forth affair in the first quarter, with neither team able to establish a decent advantage. The 'Jacks were able to take control in the second quarter, led by 12 points from Stephanie Visscher, as they built a 9-point lead to take into the break. SFA maintained their advantage after a highly offensive third quarter before blowing the game open in the fourth, outscoring the Cardinals, 23-11 in the final 10 minutes of play.
Visscher finished the game with a season-high 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. She finished 7-13 from the floor and an impressive 5-7 from 3-point range. Avery Brittingham continued to impress as she finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds while adding 3 more steals to her name. Aiyana Johnson finished with her second double-double of the season with 10 points, 11 rebounds and a couple of blocks.
The Ladyjacks continued the trend of taking advantage of forced turnovers, turning 22 of them into 24 points and only allowing 8 points off of their own. The 'Jacks also won the points-in-the-paint battle 40-30.
The Van Chancellor Classic will conclude with the Ladyjacks taking on Louisiana Monroe at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
