COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The SFA Ladyjack basketball team fought a tough battle until the final whistle against the 24th ranked team in the nation, falling 82-75 on the road to the Aggies of Texas A&M. The loss drops the 'Jacks to 3-1 on the early season with plenty of room to grow.
The Aggies jumped out to a 20-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Ladyjacks kept fighting. A quick 12-3 run to start the second, sparked by 9 points from Tasharian Robinson, evened the two teams at 23. The 'Jacks went 7-10 from beyond-the-arc and outscored the Aggies 22-21 in the second quarter to keep the game within reach heading into the break.
After falling behind 67-49 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Ladyjacks went on yet another impressive run, outscoring the hosts 22-10 to cut the deficit to just 5 points with a little under a minute to go. The comeback fell just short, but the 'Jacks were able to take a ranked team to the final minute in a tough road environment.
Stephanie Visscher led the team in scoring with 18 points on 8-14 shooting and added 5 rebounds and 4 steals to her name as well. The Swede is now averaging over 15 PPG and shooting just under 60% from the floor through four games.
