
Kensmil Turns in 23 Points, 13 Rebounds vs. SDSU Sunday

Nacogdoches, Texas - The SFA men's basketball team dropped an 83-71 game to South Dakota State Sunday afternoon in the William R. Johnson Colisuem.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SDSU broke a tie at five three minutes into the game with 7-0 run to take a 12-5 lead a minute later. The Jackrabbits never trailed after the run.
SFA clawed back into the game and cut the margin down to 16-15 with an offensive rebound and putback from Sadaidriene Hall with 10:39 left before the half. However, SDSU answered with back-to-back buckets and regain control and take a 42-34 lead into the break.
After the half, the 'Jacks cut the deficit down to two points, 44-42, following a David Kachelries three and then down to one point, 46-45, following another Kachelries triple with 16:40 remaining.
The Lumberjacks pulled even with 15:10 to play on a Calvin Solomon layup, but Jackrabbits again answered with back-to-back buckets to take a 55-51 lead with 13:44 left.
The two teams stayed locked into a close game, until broke a tie at 63 with 9:10 remaining with a 13-4 run over the next eight minutes to take an 81-67. SDSU finished off the game final 1:30 and held on for the 83-71 win.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
Gavin Kensmil led the 'Jacks with 23 points and 13 rebounds locking in the double-double.
Kensmil was 9-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.
Kachelries and Latrell Jossell eached chipped in 12 points each. Kachelries also added 8 assists in the loss.
SFA finished 42 percent from the floor compared to SDSU's 55 percent.
