Nacogdoches, Texas -
Led by an explosive first half, the SFA men's basketball team earned their second straight win, 76-63 over Mary Hardin-Baylor, to open the 2021-22 campaign Thursday night in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The 'Jacks sprinted out to a 44-22 lead at the half behind a stifling defense that allowed UMHB to shoot only 29 percent from the floor. Meanwhile, SFA shot 51 percent from the floor in the opening frame.
The 'Jacks never trailed in the contest leading comfortably from start to finish leading by as many as 32 points, 57-25, early in the second half before cruising to the win.
David Kachelries led SFA with 13 points, while Jaylin Jackson-Posey and Sadaidriene Hall each chipped in 12 points. Hall's 12 points came in only 15 minutes of action.
SFA continues its season-opening home swing with South Dakota State Sunday at 2 p.m. back in The Sawmill.
