
Balanced Scoring Attack Leads SFA Past Lamar to Clinch Regular Season SLC Crown

NACOGDOCHES, TX --The SFA men's basketball team saw all five starters reach double figures in points and beat the Lamar Cardinals 95-76 at home Saturday. The victory moved SFA's overall record to 26-3 and conference record to 17-1, and secured their position as outright regular season champions while securing the top overall seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
The 'Jacks had six players score in double figures, led by Kevon Harris, who had 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Cameron Johnson tacked on 17 points off the bench and John Comeaux helped out with 12 points.
SFA utilized fantastic ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 19 assists on 37 made field goals. Nathan Bain's five assists paced the 'Jacks.

GAME SUMMARY
After jumping out to a 21-17 advantage, SFA went on a 6-0 run with 12:01 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Johnson, to increase its lead to 27-17. The 'Jacks then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 42-38 advantage. SFA did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 42 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, SFA kept widening that lead, expanding it to 65-57 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by David Kachelries' layup, to grow the lead to 73-57 with 8:20 to go in the contest. The 'Jacks kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 95-76 win. SFA took care of business in the paint, recording 34 of its 53 points in the lane.
