Lumberjacks Pull Away From Cardinals in Second Half, 80-56

NACOGDOCHES, TX -- The SFA men's basketball team held Incarnate Word to just 26 second-half points on the way to an 80-56 win against the Cardinals at home Saturday. UIW erased an eight-point halftime deficit to tie the game up at 47 apiece with 12:48 remaining, but SFA outscored the Cardinals 33-9 the rest of the way to put the game on ice. The win improved SFA's overall record to 15-3 and conference record to 6-1.
The 'Jacks had four players score in double figures, led by Cameron Johnson, who had 19 points. Kevon Harris tacked on 17 points and Oddyst Walker helped out with 12 points from the bench.
SFA out-rebounded Incarnate Word 33-31 in Saturday's game, led by Gavin Kensmil's nine boards.
The SFA defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 22 Incarnate Word turnovers while committing 18. Those takeaways turned into 30 points on the offensive end of the floor. Kensmil's five steals led the way individually for the 'Jacks.

SFA capitalized on 11 Incarnate Word turnovers in the period, turning them into 17 points on the other end of the floor.
SFA kept its lead intact before going on a 12-0 run, finished off by Roti Ware's jumper, to grow the lead to 73-54 with 2:45 to go in the contest. The 'Jacks kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 80-56 win. SFA took care of business in the paint, recording 24 of its 42 points in the lane.
