
Gudmundsson Leads SFA After One Round at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

Sophomore is tied for 26th place in 84-man field
CHOUDRANT, La. - Sophomore Johannes Gudmundsson shot a 1-over 73 in the Sunday to lead the SFA men's golf team in the opening round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate tournament at Square Creek Country Club and Golf Course.
Following the first day of competition, SFA sits in 14th place out of 14 teams at the event. Holding a three-stroke lead or first place is Lamar, who shot an 8-under 280 through the opening round. The Cardinals are followed by Georgia (5-under 283) and Texas State (4-under 284) who round out the top three following the first 18 holes.
Gudmundsson finds himself in a tie for 26th on the individual leaderboard and sitting right there with him is Isiah Henderson who carded an identical score through round one.
Down the leaderboard sit three other Lumberjacks - Austin McKinney (7-over 79) in 73rd, Collin Juban (10-over 81) in 81st and Steven Fabik (11-over 83) who sits in 83rd in the 84-man field.
Lamar's Dino Capazario owns a two-stroke lead for first place on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 5-under 67 in round one. Two strokes behind Capazario are five players who shot identical scores of 3-under 69.
SFA head back out on the links Monday hoping to climb up the leaderboard on the second and final day of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
