Ladyjacks ink third signee for the 2019-20 season and beyond, welcome Nevada native Tommie White to Texas’ oldest town
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – After claiming the 2019 NCAA Women's Bowling title, the reigning national champion Ladyjacks have been busy securing their freshman class for the 2019-20 season and beyond. Head coach Amber Lemke announced the newest addition to the SFA bowling program Wednesday afternoon with Tommie White inking her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to compete for the Ladyjacks beginning this fall.
A native of Sparks, Nevada, White joins Samantha Munsch of Oshkosh, Wisconsin (Oshkosh West HS) and Lauren Tomaszewski of Lebanon, Illinois (O'Fallon Township HS), as SFA's trio of newcomers.
Enjoying an illustrious prep career at Edward C. Reed High School in Washoe County, Nevada, White bowled a perfect 300 game as a freshman and closed out her time as a varsity bowler with a singles, doubles and all-events state title at the division I level. Owning both the highest individual game score and individual series score in the state for all four years, White placed fifth at Junior Gold in the 15U division her freshman season in 2015-16. As a sophomore, White led Edward C. Reed to a runner-up finish at the state tournament after claiming the Mountain Division title.
White averaged a 216 and posted a series average of 770 during her junior campaign, being named female bowler of the year for all of northern Nevada and being tabbed athlete of the week by KRNV NBC News 4. She was undefeated in head-to-head competition and bowled her second perfect game of 300 during the state tournament en route to claiming the all-event championship. For the second-consecutive year, White led the Raiders to a Mountain Division title and a state finalist showing.
Her senior year, White bowled third for Edward C. Reed in Baker matches and served as the anchor in head-to-head competition. She set the Nevada high school record for individual game average with a 225 mark, while bowling a state-best 780 in series and going undefeated once again in head-to-head match play. Leading the Raiders to a third-straight Mountain Division championship, White aided Edward C. Reed to the state title and was both the singles and doubles state champion.
The daughter of Joseph and Frances White, Tommie has one sister, Macie, and a pair of brothers, Joe and Wesley. White is undecided on what she will be studying in Nacogdoches but may elect to major in business at SFA.
