NATCHITOCHES, La. – With another strong podium finish, the Ladyjacks recaptured the lead to close out day two of the 2019 Southland Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday inside Walter P. Through a series of strong performances in the preliminaries on Saturday, both SFA teams have set themselves up to grow their scores in tomorrow's finale.
After SFA briefly lost the lead following the women's shot put event, Brittany Innis and Taryn Surratt finished second and third, respectively, in the last scored women's event of the day, earning 14 points for the Ladyjacks to vault them back ahead of Abilene Christian with 65 team points. SFA trails Sam Houston State (47 points), Abilene Christian (37 points), host Northwestern State (32 points) and Lamar (26 points) with plenty of points still up in the air on the final day of action.
A large part of Saturday's schedule included the prelims of the running events, for which the finals will take place tomorrow. In addition, the finals of the men's javelin, women's discus, men's high jump, men's pole vault, men's discus, women's high jump and both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays will take place tomorrow.
