Men’s Golf Shoots Third-Lowest Round of Season to Close Out Lake Charles Toyota Invite

‘Jacks card 6-under 282 in final round, finish with second-lowest three-round score this season (9-under 855)
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The SFA men's golf team turned in its third-lowest single round score of the season Tuesday afternoon in the final round of McNeese's Lake Charles Toyota Invite, carding a 6-under 282 at the Country Club at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Lumberjacks finished the tournament with their second-lowest three-round score of 2018-19, turning in a 9-under 855 for the 54 holes of play.
Competing among an 18-team tournament field which featured three of the top-43 teams in the nation according to Golfstat, SFA placed ahead of fellow Southland Conference members Nicholls, New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana, in addition to Missouri State, Louisiana Tech and Rice.
Senior Jake Hendrix shot a career-best 6-under 66 on the par-72, 7,007-yard course Tuesday to leap 37 spots on the individual leaderboard and claim his third top-25 finish of the season by tying for 24th among 99 total golfers with a 4-under 212.
Freshman individual competitor Johannes Gudmundsson closed out his finest tournament of his inaugural collegiate year by carding an even-par 72 in the third round, tying for 32nd with a three-round tally of 2-under 214. Also tying for 32nd was fellow freshman Isiah Henderson, who notched his second 1-under 71 of the tournament Tuesday to claim his lowest 54-hole score of his young career (2-under 214).
Likewise, freshman Alec Brown carded his second 2-under 70 of the week to jump 23 spots on the leaderboard and tie for 49th with a career-best three-round score of 1-over 217. Senior Angelo Leyvani also tied for 49th with a 1-over 217, while sophomore Steven Fabik carded an 8-over 224 across the two days to tie for 83rd.
Ranked 43rd in the nation according to Golfstat, TCU claimed the Lake Charles Toyota Invite by 15 strokes with an impressive three-round score of 47-under 817. Texas Tech, ranked 10th nationally shot a 32-under 832 across the 54-holes to take home runner-up honors as UTSA (24-under 840) earned third place.
TCU's David Ravetto won the individual tournament title after turning in a 54-hole score of 19-under 197, while 24th-ranked Sandy Scott of Texas Tech finished six strokes off the lead (13-under 203) for second place along with TCU's Hayden Springer, who is ranked 97th nationally. A trio of golfers tied for fourth place with three-round tallies of 12-under 204.
