SFA Leaps to No. 7 in Latest NTCA Top 25 Poll

Ladyjacks make the biggest jump among the nation’s top 10, rise to seventh place after claiming the 2019 Kutztown Invitational
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After claiming its first tournament title since 2016, the SFA bowling team has made the largest jump among the nation's top 10 teams with a rise to No. 7 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday. The Ladyjacks had an impressive January by claiming the 2019 Kutztown Invitational for their fourth tournament win in program history and first since being crowned the school's first team national champion with the 2016 NCAA Bowling title.
SFA went 11-1 in Limerick, Pennsylvania, and finished ahead of 27 other teams to take top honors. Senior bowler Dakotah Hazlewood was sensational, averaging a 242.4 score in five traditional team games en route to being named Kutztown Invitational MVP. The Ladyjacks twice defeated fourth-ranked Arkansas State in two best 4-of-7 bracket play Baker matches to capture the tournament.
Earlier in January, SFA placed fourth at Arkansas State's Mid-Winter Invitational and is coming off of a fifth-place showing at last weekend's Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington.
Top-ranked McKendree held onto its supremacy atop the poll, while fellow Southland Bowling League member and defending national champion Vanderbilt jumped to No. 2 after winning the recent Prairie View A&M Invitational. Of the Southland Bowling League's eight member institutions, seven appear in the top 25 of the national poll and five are ranked among the top 10.
Formerly ranked 10th in the country, SFA was began its 2018-19 campaign ranked sixth in the NTCA preseason poll.

Continuing their three consecutive weekends of action, the Ladyjacks will make their first trip to Florida since 2016 when they co-host the Sunshine State Winter Classic with Sacred Heart this weekend, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 8-10 in Orlando.
