SFA scores 21 points off of turnovers in 75-32 victory against LSU-Shreveport

NACOGDOCHES, TX -- The SFA women's basketball team scored 21 points off of turnovers on the way to a 75-32 victory against the LSU-Shreveport Pilots at home Sunday.
The victory moved SFA's overall record to 6-2.
The Ladyjacks had four players score in double figures, led by Aiyana Johnson, who had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Zya Nugent added 13 points and three steals off the bench and Stephanie Visscher chipped in as well with 13 points and four assists.
SFA shared the ball well in Sunday's game, racking up 21 assists on 30 made field goals. Johnson totaled four assists to pace the Ladyjacks.
The SFA defense held LSU-Shreveport shooters to just 25.5% from the field. The Pilots didn't get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only five offensive rebounds and scored three second chance points while SFA pulled down 33 defensive rebounds.

GAME SUMMARY
After falling behind 3-2, SFA went on a 9-0 run with 8:17 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Kennedy Harris, to take an 11-3 lead. The Ladyjacks then added two points to that lead by the end of the period and entered the quarter break with an 18-8 advantage. SFA did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 12 of its 18 points close to the basket.
SFA kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 7:23 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Aaliyah Johnson, to increase its lead to 23-8. The Pilots cut into that lead, but the Ladyjacks still enjoyed a 30-19 advantage heading into halftime. SFA saw non-starters score seven of its 12 total points off the bench in the quarter.
Following intermission, SFA continued to expand their advantage, pushing it to 38-23 before going on a 13-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Visscher, to expand its lead further to 51-23 with 1 second to go in the third, a score which remained until the end of the third quarter. SFA played well near the basket, scoring 16 of its 21 points in the paint.
SFA kept widening that lead, expanding it to 69-32 before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Nugent's layup, to grow the lead to 75-32 with 48 seconds to go in the contest, a score which would hold for the rest of the game. SFA took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 20 of its 24 points in the paint.
