'Jacks Pull Away in Second Half for 66-59 Win Over ULM

NACOGDOCHES, TX -- The SFA men's basketball team went into the halftime break tied with Louisiana-Monroe 27-27, but took control in the second half to beat the Warhawks 66-59 at home Saturday.
SFA improved to 8-2 overall after the win.
The 'Jacks had three players score in double figures, led by Kevon Harris, who had 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Roti Ware tacked on 15 points and Cameron Johnson chipped in as well with 12 points off of the bench.
Led by Johnson's three offensive rebounds, SFA did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.
The SFA defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 18 Louisiana-Monroe turnovers while committing 12. Those takeaways turned into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Oddyst Walker led the way individually for the 'Jacks with two steals.

GAME SUMMARY
After falling behind 16-7, SFA went on an 8-0 run with 8:04 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Johnson, to narrow its deficit to 16-15. The 'Jacks continued to narrow the gap and tied the game at 27-27 heading into halftime. SFA got a boost from behind the arc in the period, hitting four shots to account for 12 of its 27 points.
Louisiana-Monroe then snagged a 54-50 advantage before SFA responded by going on a 14-0 run to seize a 64-54 lead with 43 seconds to go in the contest. The Warhawks narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the 'Jacks still cruised the rest of the way for the 66-59 win. SFA got out on the break in the period, scoring 11 fast break points.
